Tell us about your family:
I have a very creative and talented family. My mom, Grace Emata, makes crafts and is also a wedding coordinator. Her website came up recently online featuring her crafts. She can make anything from jewelry to wedding accessories. My dad, Gilbert P. Emata, is a professional pianist who has recorded and performed with various local artists such as Ekolu, Fiji, and Damon Williams. I am very proud of my parents.

What high school did you go to?
I graduated from Henry Perrine Baldwin High School on Maui in 2002 and am currently a student at Maui Community College.

Where do you work and what do you do at your job?
I work at ‘Ulalena on Maui as a performer. There is acting and ancient hula involved. ‘Ulalena is a mythical and theatrical show about the history of Hawaii from the creation of the islands, the first Polynesians, to the early European explorers. I am very fortunate to be in ‘Ulalena and consider it a very rewarding job.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?
I love hanging out and spending time with my parents and my boyfriend staying at home watching movies.

What kind of music do you like?
I listen to all types of m,usic such as island, reggae, ska, pop, and hip hop, but my favorite kind of music is RnB.

What goals do you have for your life?
I have always wanted to be a professional singer and actress since I was a little girl. It feels like I was born to perform.

What motivated you to enter Hawaii Stars?
I’ve always loved to sing but never actually sang professionally. When I heard about the auditions for Hawaii Stars I thought to myself that this is my chance to make something of myself and to make one my dreams become a reality.

What do you hope for the most out of being on Hawaii Stars?
It would be great to make my own CD from Hawaii Stars, but if this does not happen, I will never give up my dreams of becoming a singer. From being on Hawaii Stars, I hope to walk away being a better singer and a more confident performer.
